Munch and Lunch Math

Your child is invited to join us on Mondays and Tuesdays for Munch and Lunch Math

We will eat in the classroom and practice math facts and work on any concepts that still may need a little work from the week before 🙂

Don’t need math help, no problem. We will also offer a range of math games!

Another Open House

C. Penland and K. Penland will schedule a meet and greet style open house before we track out.

Picture Day is coming

Hopefully, you all saw the notice in Monday folders about picture day.

Our picture day is September 19th ( next Friday)

This is the yearbook picture, so all children will be photographed. If you choose to purchase pictures, you need to have the money and envelope on that day. There is no preview pack for these pics.

I will post the time for pictures this afternoon. 🙂

My plan is to have the pictures taken before lunch!

Tracks 3 & 4 – 5th Grade Celebration

When:  Wednesday, June 25, 2014 – 10am-2pm

Rain Date: Thursday, June 26, 2014

What:  5^th Grade ONLY Fun Day & Pizza Party

Families are encouraged to join the students for the festivities. Pizza lunch will be provided for students. Lunch will ONLY be provided for students so be sure to pack lunch for the remainder of your family.

Don’t Forget:

• You should apply sunscreen on your student, before school
• Each student should bring a water bottle, change of clothes, and a towel (There will be water fun)
• Students are encouraged to bring their yearbooks for their classmates to sign at our Yearbook Signing station
• Send your student with a Sharpie so their classmates can sign their t-shirt (class t-shirts will be provided)

Important for Bus-riders–2014-2015 School Year

Action is needed by June 6th to get bus service if the students is currently NOT a bus rider.

What families need to do
Families who have students enrolled in the current 2013-14 school year and have been using bus service will be presumed to use bus service in 2014-15, will be automatically included in the plan, and need take no action.

Families with a kindergarten student who will begin in 2014-15 and already have an older sibling using bus service during the current 2013-14 school year must enroll the rising Kindergartner in school by the cutoff date to receive transportation services.

Families with students in the school system during the current 2013-14 school year who are not currently using transportation services, but plan to ride the bus at the start of the 2014-15 school year should also use the online form to sign up for service.  Again, the request for bus service must be made by the cutoff date to automatically receive first day transportation services.  The website is: http://www.wcpss.net/parents/transportation/busrider/.

Cutoff dates

• Year-round calendar schools regardless of track assignment must enroll and request bus service by June 6 to receive first day service.

For families who request Transportation services after the cutoff date, first day bus service is not guaranteed. Requests received after these cut off dates will be processed in the order received. Transportation will make every effort possible to provide service using existing bus stops as quickly as possible.

Bus stops
Transportation will provide service based on the family’s residence of record. Requests for additional service, such as to before or afterschool programs or other alternative stops, will be considered after the first 30 days of the school calendar. Students who do not use transportation services for 10 consecutive days will be removed from routes. Families would need to request Transportation services using the online form to reactivate the student’s bus stop assignment.

Last Call–YEARBOOKS!!!

We will place one final order for yearbooks this week. We sold out of yearbooks quickly this year! Orders placed this week must be pre-paid. Yearbooks are $19 and the plastic covers are $1. Orders will be accepted through Friday afternoon (June 6th). The final yearbook order will be placed on Monday (June 9th), and the books should be delivered within a week.

Artist in Residence volunteers

Next week, Track 2 & 3 will have our artist in residence daily from 9:30-10:30, 10:45-11:45 and from 2:30-3:30. We need multiple volunteers for each session, and the volunteers need to be registered volunteers through Wake County. If you can take one or more than one spot for each day of the week, that would be tremendous.
