Middle School Open House Dates

Many parents and students have been asking us about Middle School Open House dates for the upcoming school year. I don’t have any definitive information, but there is information posted at local Middle School websites. Of course, this information isn’t provided by Herbert Akins Elementary, as these open house dates are selected by the Middle Schools based upon their schedules.

We’ll do anything we can to help you out in your transition from HARES to whichever middle school you will be attending. Mrs. Bissette is also a tremendous resource, and we can put you in touch with her, should you need information. Your best source for 2013-2014 information would be to contact your Middle School for any questions that you may have.

At this time, there isn’t any information posted on the Westlake or Fuquay-Varina Middle School sites that I could find, but there is some tentative information on the Holly Grove website.

July Calendar for Holly Grove Middle School

As information becomes available to us, we will try and keep our site updated, but remember, your first source of information should be the Middle Schools themselves!

Have a great weekend!

More Middle School Registration information–from Mrs. Bissette

Dear Parents,

I know there has been some confusion this year about registration for middle school. I anticipated starting the process sooner, however I just received the green registration forms late yesterday. Your children’s teachers now have them and will make their recommendations and send the forms home for your signature. I will start visiting the fifth grade classrooms tomorrow to go over the elective forms. Both the green sheets and the elective forms are due to the middle schools by March 28th which does not give us much time. This is not typical, but this year everything is due earlier due to the transition from NC Wise to PowerSchool the new student data system. Please help us by returning the forms to school by March 25 (March 27 for track 1).

If you have questions please let me know.

Tara Bissette

Middle School Registration

Fifth Grade parents, make sure that you turn in both your green forms and your elective forms by Track Out day on Wednesday. We are sorry about the short turnaround for this, but the county moved up the dates by more than a month because of changes in the system. If you have any questions, don’t be afraid to contact Mrs. Penland or myself, and we’d be glad to help you out in any way possible. Mrs. Bissette is also a resource as well, as she is our point person for much of the middle school process! THANKS!
