deport-to carry or send away from a country; to banish

Reading Vocabulary

  1. Cause/Effect–Text Structure that explains reasons for something happening (Sewe punches Ayel, and Ayel cries) and what happens next.
  2. Chronology–Text Structure that shows events in the order in which they happen (timeline).
  3. Comparison–Text structure that takes two things or more and shows how they are similar and how they are different.
  4. Evidence–Facts, figures, text, opinions, quotes, pictures, captions or any sort of data that gives support to claims (answers) made by somebody.
  5. Non-Fiction Text (Expository)–True text that gives you information about a topic through main ideas and their supporting details.
  6. problem/solution–Text structure that when an obstacle is doing something, and how that obstacle is solved.
  7. Synthesize (Connect)–Bring together information from text and from personal, world and literary (books, magazines) to create a new understanding (come to the big idea).
  8. Text Features: In informational text that help the reader work through the text and provide more information to help comprehend: titles, heading, subheadings, captions, maps, diagrams, charts, graphs, legends, bold, italicized text, glossaries, tables of content, indexes, cutaways, bald kids
  9. Text Structure: How the author organizes text (chronology, comparison, cause/effect, problem/solution)
